Who is Melissa Allibone?
Melissa Allibone is a Speech-Language Pathologist who specializes in evaluating and treating voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Penn State University, followed by a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
Melissa is passionate about helping others incorporate practical, personalized exercises and strategies into their daily routines to keep their voices healthy both professionally and socially. Her own experiences with voice and upper airway disorders have guided her clinical interests in evaluating and treating professional voice users, athletes with exercise induced laryngeal obstruction, and patients with Parkinson’s disease. Additionally, her background as a trained pianist has been beneficial when rehabilitating singers.
Education and Training
Melissa Allibone earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Penn State University and a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University with a unique focus on hearing loss, Deaf culture, and American Sign Language. She holds Speech Pathology licensure in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She is also certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
Professional Background
Prior to joining Penn Medicine Becker ENT & Allergy in New Jersey, Melissa Allibone completed training at Johns Hopkins ENT and later worked in the Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery departments at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn Medicine/University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia. She initially began her speech pathology career in elementary schools and enjoys treating the pediatric population, as well.
